Three plazas and thirteen structures mark the epicenter of this very important ceremonial site of the ancient Mayan civilization. Altun Ha, which also served as a trade center, is located only seven miles from the sea and is surrounded by primary broadleaf rainforest. This site captured world attention when Professor David Pendergast, of the Royal Ontario museum, discovered the now famous nine and a half pound jade head of the sun god Kinich Ahau. The discovery was made in the tomb of a Royal Priest within the main temple of the masonry altars. Prepared stone steps allow visitors to climb atop three of the main temples on the site in order to capture the beautiful views of the scenic countryside. You will also enjoy a short tour of Belize City, the largest city in the district, which is also the commercial capital of Belize. Approximately 4 hours. |

St. Thomas is known as an idyllic
vacation spot today, but its history is
not so peaceful. In the 18th century,
the island was at the center of a
bustling pirate culture, as
swashbuckling pirates such as Blackbeard
and Drake traded stolen wares in the
port of Charlotte Amalie. This
world-renowned Caribbean island is home
to amazing beaches, gorgeous sea and
landscapes and unbelievable duty-free
shopping |

The Conquistadors first saw Mexico from
the shores of Cozumel while searching
for gold. Today, visitors to the island
continue to seek out gold and silver
jewelry in the shops of San Miguel while
having a great time in its many local
bars and restaurants. Plus, the waters
around Cozumel's sheltered coral reefs
make this one of the best snorkeling
areas in the world. |

Located on the picturesque southern
coast, Oranjestad is the historic Dutch
capital of Aruba, where the traditional,
tall, multicolored houses combine carved
wooden doors and typical Dutch tiles
with open-air patios. The charm of the
city complements the beauty of this
popular Caribbean island where the Dutch
and indigenous cultures have merged to
give Aruba its unique atmosphere.
Today's visitors can enjoy this culture
along with beautiful beaches, excellent
snorkeling and exciting nightlife. |
