GOLF AT THE PORT ROYAL GOLF COURSE

This par 71, 6,565 yard Robert Trent Jones course is enjoyably hilly and pleasantly rural. Well trapped greens and bunkered fairways, however, conspire with striking views and a lush setting against an impressive score card. Easily the busiest links in Bermuda, over 50,000 rounds are played here each year.

The 7th and 8th holes are a dogleg par-5 and a windy par-3, respectively. The 15th and 16th holes ring the craggy cliffs around Whale Bay; sometimes winds from the Atlantic taunt the golf balls hit from these tees. The par-three 16th is fast becoming the most famous in all of Bermuda golf. A ball hooked here ends up in no less a water hazard than the Atlantic Ocean.

Rating: blue tees, 72; white tees, 69.7; red tees, 72.5.
